We’re launching the first #WellingtonPlaceChallenge with our partners Wellington Place in Leeds in September 2021.

Secondary schools and colleges from across Leeds are invited to take part in this interactive online challenge which will give students insight into the various sectors, roles and routes of entry from some of their occupying partner businesses at the city centre development.

The challenge has been designed to connect secondary school aged students with local employers through a series of tasks, activities and events that can be completed remotely. Students will develop their independent research skills, creativity, presentation, communication and virtual social networking skills.

The challenge has been aligned to Wellington Place’s corporate values and will help schools meet Gatsby benchmarks 2 (learning from labour market information) and 5 (encounters with employers and employees).

Buro Happold, the Ministry of Justice, Wates and Brewin Dolphin are amongst the employers giving inspirational advice for students to be inspired by as each school will receive a pack with careers resource videos and a challenge brief set by each employer.

Students are then invited to work on their response to the brief and post it on Twitter on 8 October using the hashtag #WellingtonPlaceChallenge. This #WellingtonPlaceChallenge takeover day will see students receive responses and feedback to their ideas directly from the employers involved in realtime.

Any schools that would like to sign up to take part in the #WellingtonPlaceChallenge can contact Annamaria Stewart via our contact page >>
