FOCUS: Give college students from a range of courses and subject areas their first experience of interview practice with volunteers from local businesses.

900 students from Wakefield College got an opportunity to hone their interview skills with help from over 50 local business volunteers at the college’s city and Castleford campuses, making this Ahead Partnership's biggest interview practice yet.

Students from a range of courses were given the opportunity to practice their skills in an interview with a volunteer before receiving feedback on their technique and answers to help them make progress for the real thing.

Volunteers came from a diverse range of local employers including Arriva, XPO Logistics, Ramsdens Solicitors, Barnsley Digital Media Centre, Harvard Engineering, Wakefield District Housing, Theatre Royal Wakefield, Castleford Tigers RLFC, Card Factory, Burberry, Superdrug and Peter Duffy Ltd. as well as a host of local entrepreneurs and small business owners.

“We’re delighted to be working with Ahead Partnership on helping our students develop their interview skills and techniques.  I’m also pleased to see so many renowned employers coming together to help prepare learners for the world of work. Such partnership work hugely benefits young people helping them prepare for the transition from education to employment.”
